  • This is my first visit here, but I will be back soon, because I really like the way you are writing, it is so simple and honest

  • My name is Mike Tuck and I'm the Secretary and "webmaster" for Hants & Dorset Stickmakers.
I use the term loosely as I've been trying to get to grips with our website for some time, as some of you will know if you've tried our link but I hope to "go live" in March, so please have a look and let me know what you think. I came to your site to remind me of your address so I can link from our site to yours. I like the look of some of your features and hope you won't mind if we incorporate some into our site. Don't forget our Stick Show at Woodlands village hall on March 28th with free entry to all, this year we are aiming the show entirely at novices to encourage more entries, so please come along.
The big event of the year is the "Dorset Do" on Sunday October 3rd, more demonstrations and speakers this year, tools and stickmaking bits for sale, plus our auction sale, bring along your unwanted items and we'll sell them for you.
    Best Regards from H & D

  • G'Day All,
My name is Paul Richards and I am a stick dresser from Tasmania, Australia. Whilst in the UK last year I spent two days with Bill Lowe from Heckington, Yorkshire learning the art of stick dressing. After 12 months back in Tasmania I have made several sticks, crooks, waders, thumb sticks [antler] and fishing priests using traditional Tasmanian timbers such as huon pine, sassafras, blackwood, figured myrtle, musk, leatherwood and eucalypt burl. We do not have very much hazel for shanks so I have been using dogwood, sycamore and some hazel. I have plenty of fallow deer antler at my disposal and will have a supply of buffalo and rams  horn in the new year. I am presently building a bending jig and will follow up with a press in due course. I will be visiting the UK again in 2010 [Sept - Nov] and hope to get to some shows, Yetholm Fair is on my list. I would like to hear from anyone within the Calleva Stick Dressers group.
    Regards to all
    Paul

  • Welcome to Calleva Stick Dressers.

I hope we can attract some new members!

(This is a sample entry for the guestbook, by the way)
